Bharath is 20 films old now and with four more projects in his kitty, the actor is steadily notching up the wins in his career. He’s currently shooting for A Venkatesh’s Killadi and will be flying off to France next week to complete two songs for Perarasu’s Thiruthani.

Meanwhile, his Yuvan Yuvathi is also almost ready for summer release.

However, his most awaited flick this seasosn would Krish’s Vaanam, which is releasing tomorrow.

He plays the role of Bharath Chakravarthy, a rock star from Bangalore, a far cry from the rural youth he has played so far.

So why is Vaanam so important ? “I loved the script.

Five different stories of different genres will end with one climax. I was offered Manoj’s role from the original Vedham and I immediately grabbed it.

Many changes have been made to my character and the film will surely be a surprise treat for audience.

Personally, it’s a welcome change playing a modern, urban youth,” smiles Bharath.

The film casts Simbu, Prakash Raj and Anushka apart from Saranya, Vega, Jasmin and Sonia Agarwal.

Didn’t he feel lost ? “Not at all! I have done multistarrers before like Pattiyal and Veyil and I’m confident about the way my character has shaped up in the movie. Each character has been clearly etched, so there is no room for comparisons.

I was happy to be just part of such a big project.

I have got other films as a solo hero to prove myself,” explains Bharath.

He has the title song to his credit, apart from a rock number named Who Am I.

Doing dangerous stunts without a dupe proves his dedication. “In Vaanam, I had to roll down a 40 feet hillock without landing on my head. In another scene, I had to jump at a speeding SUV and break the windshield with a rock. The glass cut my hand and I still have marks on my wrist,” he grins. For Thiruthani, where he plays a physical trainer, he gained 7 kilos and does a bare body opening fight scene. “You have to stand out to survive in a competitive industry, so you have to give your best to the audience,” he shrugs.

The young actor is now bent on an image change that began with Kandein Kadhalai and goes on with his next few films. In Yuvan Yuvathi opposite Rima Kallingal, Bharath is the suave youth caught up in the generation gap and the debate of village versus town. But Bharath says that his most exciting film is going to be 555 directed by Sasi of Poo fame. “The movie is about mental games and Sasi worked on the script for three years. I am confident that 555 will do for me what Ghajini did for Suriya,” he declares.
