Singer Krish and his wife have rubbished rumours that they would be performing at a New Year bash organised by the Sri Lankan government in Switzerland. Says the singer, “We have finally closed (the lid on) the baseless controversy that we are performing for the Sri Lankan government. We produced proof that Ranjan, a Lankan Tamil, was the agent who was responsible for organising trip. At present, our trip to Switzerland has been confirmed, and I will be performing on the first of January.”

Krish claimed that the rumours had been triggered by Raghupathy, another Sri Lankan  Tamil who was organising another bash on the same day in Switzerland. “Raghupathy, in a bid to score over Ranjan, had spread rumours that the show was being sponsored by the Sri Lankan government. However, I wish to reiterate that the Sri Lankan government has nothing to do with this show.”

“In fact, last year, we were invited by Ranjan to perform for a show, but I was unaware that it was funded by the Sri Lankan government. Later, when Ranjan informed us about the sponsors, we walked out of the show without performing in it. Ranjan wanted to felicitate me for standing up for the cause of Tamils andhas organised this event in Switzerland now.”

“We have been unnecessarily pulled into this issue. We are just artistes and we are in no way connected with politics and the political equations that exist between them. I’m performing for my livelihood and no one can stop me from doing the show. In fact, we have not taken any money for this show.”

When asked if he was expecting any trouble during the show, the singer said, “We hope there won’t be trouble during our performance. It cannot happen because it’s Switzerland and we have the commissioner of the country attending the function. We have the support of all the actors and friends, and if anything happens, we are ready to face it.”
