CHENNAI: This is one Khan who’s sure going places. After she was last seen opposite Bharath in Thambikku Indha Ooru, the svelte and sexy Sana Khan is back, but this time in a different avatar. Starring in Silent Movies’ Payanam along with co stars Nagarjuna and Prakash Raj, the girl is on a new high.

Optimistic that the film will showcase her acting talent to the fullest, she says, “It’s not a regular hero-heroine kind of movie; it’s a hijack drama. I play the role of Sandhya, one of the passengers. Travelling alone on the flight, she is constantly irritated by a co-passenger.”

With this film, Sana takes up an unusual role without following the song and dance routine reserved for heroines. Ask her why and she says, “The script excited me. Added to it, I got the opportunity to work with the highly acclaimed and talented Prakash Raj and director Radha Mohan. Also, I am a huge fan of Nagarjuna, so when he joined the cast, I was elated!”

But it wasn’t a cakewalk, she reveals.

“We spent twenty days in the aircraft set at the Ramoji Film Studios with a cast comprising nearly 45 people. It was a whole new experience, which included seven days of grueling night shoot.”

The tougher part for Sana was doing the film in both Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. “We would shoot for both languages one after the other, so I had to repeat the expressions twice for each shot, while mastering my dialogues in different languages! It was tough,” she recalls.

The actor sports a ‘no makeup look’ in the film. “It’s a hijack drama. Naturally the characters had to look tired, not fresh and made up. So the make-up was kept minimal for the film,” she explains.

The film will hit the theatres in February this year.
