It is well known that actors Vijay, Jiiva and Srikkanth play the lead roles in Nanban, a Hindi-remake of 3 Idiots, based on Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. But the latest entry in the friends’ list is none other than the actor of Chennai 28-fame, Vijay Vasanth. “I play a very small role. Shooting for my portion got over in just three days. Still, I’m happy to be associated with director Shankar’s banner,” the actor said. He thought somebody was playing prank when he got a call from director Shankar’s office and he said, “I couldn’t believe that he asked me to meet him to discuss my character.” Vijay Vasanth, who got married last year, was last seen in Nadodigal as Sasikumar’s friend. His first movie as solo hero, Madhil Mel Poonai, is also ready to release soon. “I was very reluctant to accept the role as it had fight scences, but the director convinced me that I could perform well,” he says. Is Chennai 28 Part 2 on cards? “We had wanted a sequel while shooting Chennai 28, but who knows what is going on in minds of Venkat Prabhu and SP Charan,” he quips.
