CHENNAI: Crime reporters are having a hard time keeping track of the number of complaints that are piling up against Sun Pictures chief operating officer Hansraj Saxena.

It is five - or is it six - so far. Every other day, Saxena is being brought from the Puzhal prison to the court by the police, either seeking custody in a case or after effecting rearrest in connection with another case. Hence, it was not only Saxena, who heaved a sigh of relief after two Salem-based distributors T S Selvaraj and Shanmugahavelu recently withdrew their complaints against him at the KK Nagar police station following an out-of-court settlement, but also the reporters, as it meant two cases less to keep count.

However, if Saxena nursed any hopes of wriggling out of the remaining three cases, they seem to have been short-lived, as another complaint joined the existing pile on Friday.

Film director Rasu Mathuravan, a native of Madurai, approached the Pattinapakkam police station with a complaint against Saxena. Claiming that he sold the rights of Harish-starrer ‘Muthukku Muthaga’, directed by him, to the Sun Pictures chief for Rs 1.5 crore, he alleged that Saxena paid him only Rs 50 lakh. When he demanded the rest of the amount, he was threatened and beaten up, Mathuravan alleged.

The Pattinapakkam police registered a case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) and rearrested Saxena, who is already behind bars, on Friday.
