

THE Image Auditorium was abuzz with activity, as the RJs of 92.7 Big FM played the perfect hosts on Saturday (March 26) evening. The firstof- its-kind, Big Tamil Entertainment Awards, was a major initiative from a predominantly aural medium to felicitate entertainment across genres like movies, music, dance, theatre and television.
Scrutinised by jury members like Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Khushboo, Rohini and Lissy Priyadarshan, the public too participated by voting their choice of entertainers.
The star-studded event saw performances by actor Shammu, singer Ranina Reddy and Stephen Devassy, an acclaimed pianist. The event also saw a humorous fete from Bosskey. RJ Dheena and Ramya hosted the event. RJ Balaji entertained the audiences with tid bits along with a few celeb guests. For instance, actor Ashwin Shekar was asked to deliver a few ‘punch’ dialogues.
While actor Simbu bagged the ‘Most Entertaining Actor of the Year’ award for Vinnaithandi Varuvaya, Reemma Sen bagged the ‘Most Entertaining Actress of the Year’ for Aayirathil Oruvan. Boss Engira Bhaskaran stole the show with two awards — ‘Most Entertaining Film of the Year’ and ‘Most Entertaining Director of the Year’. Vidharth bagged the ‘Most Entertaining Newcomer of the Year’ for Mynaa, and Venkatesh was the ‘Most Entertaining Villain of the Year’ for Angadi Theru.
Na Muthukumar was awarded the ‘Most Entertaining Lyricist of the Year’. Paiyaa’s music score won Yuvan Shankar Raja the ‘Most Entertaining Music Director of the Year’ award. His sister Bhavadharani collected the award on his behalf. Chinmayi and Vijay Prakash won the ‘Most Entertaining Playback Singer of the Year’ for, Poove Poove (Siddu Plus Two) and Hosanna (Vinnaithandi Varuvaya) respectively.
The small screen also saw a fair share of felicitation.
Bharathiraja’s small screen venture Thekkathi Ponnu bagged the ‘Most Entertaining Serial of the Year’ award. Neeya Naana won the ‘Most Entertaining Talk Show of the Year’ award and anchor Gopinath was awarded the ‘Most Entertaining Anchor of the Year’.
For the most entertaining actor and actress on TV this year, the awards were given to Sanjeev and Devyani respectively.
Brinda Das walked away with the ‘Most Entertaining Character of the Year with Negative Shades’. The award for the ‘Most Entertaining Reality Show on Television’ was given to Super Singer.
Bharatnatyam exponent Padma Subramaniyam was felicitated with the ‘Most Entertaining Dancer of the Year’.
Koothu-p-pattarai won the the ‘Most Entertaining Theatre Troupe’ of the year. The Big Tamil Entertainer — Phenomenon Award, was given to superstar Rajinikanth. The jury members visited Rajini’s house and presented the award. The audio visual clip of the same was screened for the audiences.
