Actor Richard Rishi, who debuted in Tamil with Kadhal Virus (2002), is in the news again. After several attempts, the actor seems to have almost struck the right chord in Tamil. Yes, he is all set to play one of the three leads in CS Amudhan’s Rendavathu Padam.

However, Richard hasn’t bagged this opportunity all of a sudden and not certainly because he is Amudhan’s  friend.

“We  have been friends from school days and we always wanted to work together after his first movie Tamil Padam released,” says Richard.

And it is not new for him to be part of a humourous subject.

“In fact, Amudhan happened to see my Telugu comedy film, Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw, and liked my performance. That’s how I got a role in his movie. It was not just because I was his friend,” he says.

Richard throws light on the movie as well. “The movie is about three different guys who will be projected in a serious manner. However, their activities will appear funny to audiences. While Vimal and Aravind are responsible for the comedy, I play the serious part,” he says. Only Vimal and Richard have a pair in the movie, “Auditions for the heroines are still on,” he says.

According to Richard, Rendavathu Padam will go on the floors from the second week of December and will be completed by April. “Shooting will take place in Chennai and some parts of north India and the story requires shooting in Bangkok and Singapore,” says Richard.

Richard holds his friend CS Amudhan in high regard, even though he is a close friend. “You can’t define him using the definitions you use to describe a typical Kollywood director. He has an amazing sense of humour and can’t stop cracking jokes. He cracks at least three jokes in a minute,” smiles Richard.
