The trailer and music of Suriya’s much awaited ‘7aam Arivu’ was released at a grand event that featured song and dance performances to Harris Jayaraj’s music. International artistes and local stars like Anjali, Lakshmi Rai and singer Karthik were among those who performed at the event held at the Chennai Trade Centre.
The trailer was unveiled by Dhanush and Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is also the producer of the film. For director AR Murugadoss, music director Harris Jayaraj and actor Suriya, it is a reunion of sorts after their blockbuster hit ‘Ghajini’ in Tamil. Shruti Haasan makes her debut in Tamil with ‘7 aam Arivu’.
AR Murugadoss, speaking on the occasion, said, “I started off with Tamil, moved to Telugu and even Hindi after that. However, I have come back to Tamil because I belong here. When ‘Ghajini’ in Hindi went on to become a hit, I saw everybody enjoying the film except me because I couldn’t follow Hindi. ‘7 aam Arivu’ is one film which will take Tamil cinema to the next level. It is one of costliest films ever made in Tamil. Every minute of the first 15 minutes had cost Rs 1 crore each. So, you can imagine how much would have gone in to make the entire film.”
The film’s plot begins in China. Murugadoss revealed an interesting bit of information, “There is an important connection between India and China, called the Silk Route. This is how Kancheepuram and China are connected.”
But what forms the crux of the story is the life of Bodhidharma, a Buddhist monk who lived 1,500 years ago. “Suriya has given his best. Be it the six-pack abs or learning martial art, Suriya has left no stone unturned for this film. For the circus artist he plays in the film, he has learnt juggling. Now, he can juggle up to five balls,” revealed Karthi, Suriya’s brother.
Speaking about the film, Suriya said, “I am happy that when this script was offered to me, I was the first and last choice. There were three stories and this was the best of them. I had a choice between an action-oriented script and this one – an action-oriented historical sci-fi thriller. I decided to go for it.”
