Veppam stars ‘Evam’ Karthik in the role of a mechanic boy. Karthik says  he has never played a character like this before in his film career. “Vishnu, the mechanic boy, is very talkative,” says the actor. “An interesting and funny part is that actor Nani plays a character named Karthik, who is a complete contrast to Vishnu. Very often, at the sets, when Anjana, the director, would call out for Karthik, both of us would wonder as to who is being addressed,” Karthik laughs.

Telugu actor Nani makes his Tamil debut with Veppam. “I think I was destined to do this film,” says  Nani. “When I was shooting for Ala Modalaindi with Nithya Menon, Anjana spotted us and decided to cast us in Veppam,” he adds. Working in a Tamil film for the first time, Nani says shooting a film in this language was challenging for him. So what was the most challenging part? “It is definitely the scene where my brother in the film keeps banging my head with a rod,” he chuckles.

For Nithya Menon, Veppam would be her second release after Nootrenbadhu (180) in Tamil but Veppam was the first film she signed. “Honestly, I think Veppam is my first film, but 180 released first,” says the pretty actress. “And as things happen for the good, the release of 180 in Tamil has given audiences a different perspective about me. They will look forward to seeing me in Veppam.”

Nithya plays a character named  Revathy who runs a shop. How significant is her role in the film? Nithya says, “There is nothing called a heroine role. I select a film not because of the significance of the character but for the love of doing a movie.”
