It isn’t unusual for an actor’s son to enter filmdom, but Kollywood has a new entrant who hails from a musician’s family. This is singer Mano’s son Shakir!
The youngster debuted in director Selvaa’s recent film Naanga, along with four other actors. For him, acting has always been a passion. And yet, he says hopes to sing one day just like his father. He says, “My father has acted in quite a few films and I have also been inspired to act too, but more than singing.”
In Naanga, Shakir played an anti-hero character Pandian. Even though the film opened to mixed reviews, the actor says that his acting was well-appreciated by the critics. But why debut in a multistarrer? “I was looking for a good launchpad. Director Selvaa is an experienced director who had given a break to actor Ajith. So I wanted to display my acting skills in his film,” says Shakir.
The actor is already doing another film, Roobai, with the same team of Naanga. Shakir and his dad are also planning to do a bilingual — in Tamil and Telugu. And with that, the actor says, “ I will definitely be singing and acting in my upcoming films too.”
