After Mynaa and Mudhal Idam, there is a huge expectation about music composer D Imman’s movies. And the musician seems to have lived up to the hype!

In director Ezhil’s Manam Kothi Paravai (MKP), Imman has given a chance to the finalists of the popular music show Super Singer — Santhosh Hariharan, Sai Sharan and Malavika. “Malavika and Sai Sharan have recorded a duet while Santhosh has sung a solo song,” says Imman.

The music composer has his kitty full with director Ezhil’s Manam Kothi Paravai, Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki and Samuthirakani’s Saattai. While the audio of MKP is scheduled for release on April 12, the music director has already completed seven songs for Kumki. “Filmmaker Ezhil always ensures his films feature music with a difference. He was impressed by my score for Mynaa and chose me to compose songs for his next film, as that too is set in a village like Mynaa,” says Imman.

The participants of Super Singer have also received an offer to sing in Imman’s other much-talked-about flick, Saattai (said to be an education-based movie). Some of the finalists from the junior category of the popular television show have rendered their voices for songs in this film.

In Kumki, Imman is introducing a Vedanthangal-based singer Magizhini, who used to be a regular performer at the folks arts festival, Chennai Sangamam. “Madurai-based music troupe Samar Kalai Kuzhu has done a percussion piece in the movie and singer Alphonse of Aaromale fame has sung a solo number,” he reveals. The music director says Kumki will be a confluence of folk and tribal music and will have global appeal.

Imman is also working on another movie titled Amara, directed by Saattai’s cameraman Jeevan, and wants to take up new projects after Kumki’s release.
