Young filmmakers seem to be having a great time. After 24-year-old Balaji Mohan of ‘Kadhalil Sodhapavudhu Yeppadi’, it is Narayan, the director of ‘Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathile’, who is gearing up for the release of his debut film.
The young director, who has worked under Mysskin, has directed a film that he claims will lend a new meaning to Tamil cinema. “This is my first film and I have meticulously scripted every scene. This will definitely be a different genre and something that everyone wants to see on screen. It’s not just one love story, but a lot of love stories shown in a short time.”
Pointing out that there is no protagonist or antagonist in his film, the 27-year-old director says, “The highlight of the film is that there is no 'hero factor' in it. It’s a film of love stories that take place in a coffee shop.”
The director has also tried his hand at live dubbing for this film. “I wanted my cast members to have a conversation with each other. So, I went for live dubbing. Also, the story takes place in two hours, which is also the runtime of the film. So, it will appear like a live show to the audience.”
Apparently, it took him three years to shoot this film. “I wanted my music director, Achu (who has composed music for ‘Ennai Theriyuma’), to understand the film and score music. We came up with different sound tracks and only after that, I started shooting,” he reveals.
Produced by Sri Lakshmi Narisma Creation, the film is set to release in March.
