Debutant director Balaji Mohan is definitely a lucky man! For, he is now remaking his 10 minute short film into a feature film. A year ago, Balaji Mohan directed a short film, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, which became a huge hit on You Tube and received more than four lakh hits in a week’s time. Impressed by his work, cinematographer Nirav Shah introduced him to producer Sasikanth of Y NOT Studios, and his journey begun!
The film, featuring Siddarth and Amala Paul in the lead, is a love story on a college going couple. Talking about his film, Balaji says, “The feature film is an elaborated version of the short film. Here, I have explained the portions of the lead characters and the supporting roles very well.”
The director has introduced many new characters in the feature film. However, he has retained two important people who were responsible for the humour part in the short film. “Yes, apart from two people, Arjun and Vignesh, who have played the same roles in the feature film, I have changed the other characters. I felt no one could fit their roles as well as they did. They’re good actors.”
Shot in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, the film will be releasing in the Valentine’s Day week. “I shot the short film in just a day-and-a-half, however, I took 50 days to shoot the feature film in both languages. I’m hoping it will be received well by audiences just like how they received my shortfilm.”
