All it took to disrupt the shooting of the movie Sillunu Oru Sandhippu was to make the movie’s two female leads meet. The crew of the romantic thriller, shoot for which is on in the city, witnessed a heated exchange between the heroines Oviya and Dipa Shah on Tuesday. This was followed by the hurried exit of Dipa, who stopped the shoot abruptly and returned to her hotel.
It turns out that the heroines — upcoming ones at that — were asked to share a caravan by the filmmakers. Trouble began when Oviya, the more famous of the two, was being interviewed by a reporter of a magazine in her caravan. Dipa Shah was also in the caravan to prepare for her next shot, when her cell phone rang. “Annoyed at the noise it caused, Oviya and her manager objected to it, leaving Dipa Shah red-faced,” a source told City Express.
Explaining her stance, actor Dipa Shah issued a statement that said she did not have any qualms working with whom she called the ‘second female lead’ of the movie, but pointed out that it was the latter’s manager who was rude to her. Dipa, who has acted in Yuddham Sei, said she was shocked when Oviya’s manager tried to punch her on the face, which shocked her so much that she left the shooting spot not knowing what to do. Following requests from the film crew and Oviya herself, the manager apologised, said Dipa.
The film’s lead ladies caused this ruckus on the very first day of their shoot together, reiterating the belief in the film industry that no two heroines enjoy each other’s company. Oviya was unavailable for comment but film sources clarified that all issues between the heroines had been settled and shoot for the film had resumed.
