Vimal, who is currently busy with a number of films, didn’t even have time to stay through the audio launch of one of his upcoming films — Netru Indru, on Sunday. While he left early for an impending shoot, Prasanna, who has done a cameo in the film directed by Padmamagan, was present for the entire event.

Produced by the director’s wife S Malathy, Netru Indru also has actors Richard, Nithish, Gemini Balaji, Mano Chitra and Arundathi. Music is by newbie Rehaan while Dinesh Sri is the cinematographer. Padmamagan, who has directed Pallavan and Ammuvagiya Naan (AN) earlier, said he gave up cinema after the second film. “Though AN was screened at the Indian Film Festival at Goa, I didn’t get producers for my next project, the story of which was about a seven-year-old child. I became a drunk. But I decided to make a comeback with a fully commercial film instead. My wife Malathy pledged her earrings for `10,000 and turned producer. Now Netru Indru is complete and will release soon,” he said.

The film is an adventure thriller, which was apparent from the trailer and songs screened. Shot in the thick forests of Achankovil and Puducherry for 65 days, the film is touted as one that will keep viewers in suspense till the end.

Prasanna said he accepted to do a cameo role, as he found it interesting. “True to his word, Padmamagan completed my shoot within 10 days,” he added. For actor Mano Chitra, or Nandhagi as she was known in her debut film Aval Peyar Tamilarasi, it’s a switch to playing a modern day girl this time.
