The music release of Ponmaalai Pozhudhu, was held in a grand manner in actor Kamal Haasan’s presence in June last year. However, the release of the film is scheduled only for this July, after an inordinate delay of more than a year. The film is directed by A C Durai and stars newcomer Aadhav (grandson of poet Kannadasan) and Gaythrie.
Aadhav agrees that the waiting period was stressful. “Though the audio was launched much in advance, we took time for post-production. We wanted to release the film at the right time and everything has fallen in place now. Of course, it was stressful to wait for the film to come out and there were days when I had even broken down,” he says. Interestingly, Dr V Ram Productions, which has bought Ponmaalai Pozhudhu from AG Creations, Aadhav’s home banner, will also produce Aadhav’s next film.
For now, Aadhav is keeping his fingers crossed and wants to hear what audiences have to say about the film. “A few of my close friends watched the film and liked it. Industry friends like Shanthanoo, Vishnu, Atharva and Sivakarthikeyan also want the movie to come out soon,” he says. Though Aadhav has worked as an assistant director to GNR Kumaravelan, he says his family always wanted to see him as an actor. “I worked with Kumaravelan for Yuvan Yuvathi and used to visit Haridas’s sets when I was doing Ponmaalai Pozhudhu. My father Kalaivanan assisted Kumaravelan’s father GN Rangarajan and it continues like a family lineage. But my mom wanted to see me as an actor and made me pursue it,” he says. But Aadhav and Kumaravelan have planned to work together in future.
Aadhav says the film industry has become very competitive than ever before, with many talented actors in fray. “I envy actors Vikram Prabhu, Gautham Karthik, Atharva and Sivakarthikeyan. Vijay Sethupathy in particular. He is a sincere soul and always works hard. He remains unchanged even after becoming a star and I look up to him,” concludes Aadhav.
