We reported some time ago, that actor Sripriya will return to direction with the remake of the Malayalam hit 22 Female Kottayam. And also that the hunt for the female lead — pivotal to the story — was on. Now, Sripriya’s husband, Rajkumar Sethupathy, who is producing the film, revelaed that Nithya Menen is playing the lead in this heroine centric, rape and revenge movie, which is about a nurse. Nithya, who has acted in a number of Telugu and Malayalam films, has appeared in 180 and Veppam in Tamil. Incidentally, Rima Kallingal and Fahadh Faasil had acted in the original. The film was among the top Malayalam movies of 2012. 22FK as the film was popularly called was a massive hit in Kerala and won quite a few awards for all the lead actors.
The remake will be a bilingual and will be released in Tamil and Telugu. Kovai Sarala plays an important role while veteran actor Prathap Pothen will reprise his role from the original.
Also, CE has heard that Vishal’s sister-in-law, Sriya Reddy, has been approached to play a powerful negative character. The hunt for the hero is still on. The shoot begins at Hyderabad in July.
