She began her journey in the cine industry with a Malayalam film when she was just 16. Now, after six films in Telugu, Aksha Pardasany is excited about setting foot in K Town in Salim. Speaking to CE, she lists out all the reasons for her enthusiasm.

Starting young

I was 16 when I got into films. My first film was Goal, a Malayalam film directed by National Award winning director Kamal. After that, the journey continued with offers from Tollywood pouring in. I’ve done films with Nani, Ram, Nikhil and Srikanth. I was waiting  for the right opportunity to enter Kollywood.

Stepping into K Town

Salim is the perfect launch for me to enter the Tamil industry. I have a meaty role — that of a Muslim girl who is very bold, a spirited rebel who is full of life. She is a lot like me in real life. I wear mostly salwar kameez in the film. I had lots of scope to perform.

Bowled over by Antony

Vijay Antony, the hero and producer of Salim, is absolutely amazing. I was amazed to see him multi-tasking as  producer, singer, music director, hero and lyric writer! He’s also a great dancer. He wasn’t jittery in the romantic scenes. He’s extremely hardworking and gives his 100 per cent to everything he does. He gave me ample screen space and never tried to hog the limelight.

Favourite song

My favourite song is the one we shot in Rameswaram. It’s shot so beautifully that it actually looks like a foreign locale! I loved the place as I got an opportunity to pray at the famed temple there.

Love for  the city

The city has grown on me. Vijay’s wife Fathima was so nice. She pampered me with home food. Thanks to the love and attention I received from everyone here, Chennai feels like home now.
