Mumbai-based company ASA Production is braced for a Kollywood entry with a Tamil film with Raai Laxmi playing the lead, a press release said on Sunday. The production house is looking at a big budget entertainment film. “ASA Production, a Mumbai based company, is all set to make their debut in Kollywood (Tamil film industry). They are planning to make an impression with a high budget entertainment movie featuring Raai Laxmi as the female lead,” read the release.

It is believed that her sparkling performance in Sundar C’s Aranmanai sealed the deal for her. The rest of the cast and crew of this movie will be announced soon.

So far, 2014 has been a remarkable year for the actor. Her movie with Mamooty titled Rajadhi Raja and Aranmanai have met with success at the box office.

The actor’s stint in Malayalam industry has been exceptionally rewarding for her, as she has earned the titled ‘Lucky Rai’.

Appreciated for her immense talent, Laxmi has garnered a  huge fan base. The actor has also been on a project-signing spree for a while now. She has a long line up of films in Mollywood and Kollywood and that has kept her very busy. This may be the turnaround that the actor would have been seeking ever since she made her debut in Tamil with Karka Kasadara (2005). Though there have been crests like Muni, Mankatha and Kanchana, she has also had a torrid time with very few leading production houses signing her on to play female lead.

This is believed to be among several reasons why she effected a name change from Lakshmi Rai to the infinitely more lucky Raai Laxmi, earlier this year. Almost immediately after that, film offers began coming in — and though they haven’t been with major roles or big stars, they are substantial enough to get the industry excited about Laxmi all over again. Laxmi herself is extremely honest about admitting just how much movies like Irumbu Kuthirai with Atharvaa and Sundar C’s Aranmanai with Santhanam, Andrea and Vinay Rai, have helped her reinstate her stature amongst A-list heroines in Kollywood. Another project that Laxmi has on hand is Lawrence’s ambitious film which has two different stories packaged together to make one film — unostentatiously titled Oru Ticketla Rendu Cinema. This will be a happy reunion for Laxmi with her Muni co-star.
