The audio launch of Arjun Sarja's home production, Jai Hind 2, was unlike any other. The highlight of the event was the presence of the family members of late Major Mukund Varadarajan.
The major had been martyred in the line of duty in an anti-terrorist encounter.
Since the movie has a strong patriotic flavour, Arjun wanted to dedicate the occasion to a real life hero.
It was a moving sight as Varadarajan and Gita, parents of the late Major, wiped their eyes when the national anthem was playing. A short presentation was made on the life of Major Mukund before the songs were played. His wife Indu and daughter Ashiya were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, an emotional Arjun said, "I wanted to be a military officer, before I became an actor. I approached my parents to sign the required form. But after much hesitation, though my father signed it, my mother was in tears and refused to sign. So I could not join the army. Maybe that's why the patriotic fervour is present in all my movies."
Addressing the late Major's parents, Arjun said, "I am very happy that you all have consented to grace this audio launch. Many heroes like myself come and go but real life heroes like your son, a soldier who gave his life for the nation, are very rare." Moved by their presence, Arjun even recited a poem lauding Major Mukund's inspirational life and bravery.
The father of the young martyr said, "Even as a child my son would say he wanted to fight at the border. After his education, he decided to join the infantry division of the army. Usually children inherit the goodwill and wealth of parents but in this case, it's the opposite. I'm here, because of my son's goodwill. When I met Arjun, I didn't feel I was speaking to an actor, but to an army officer."
Bala released the audio which was received by actress Yuvi, who has acted in the movie, and Ashiya. A visibly moved Bala said, "The sincere vibes at this function are unlike any other. I normally never feel like taking photos with anyone. But today I want to take a picture with the family of the brave soldier."
Simran Kapur, one of the heroines, Mayilsamy, Manobala and Gana Bala, who has sung a song on screen were present. The music has been given by Arjunjanya while Venu has handled the camera. The film deals with the lacunae in the educational system in the country.
Kalaipuli S Thanu, Murli Ramanarayanan, and Aishwarya, co-producer and daughter of Arjun were also present.
