It’s not so easy to forget Vaibhav Reddy, who made movie watchers laugh out loud with his rib-tickling performances in Saroja, Goa, Mankaatha and Kappal. Bagging a movie with AR Murugadoss, for which he will begin shooting in April, Vaibhav has two releases this year. The actor was in Coimbatore recently, as chief guest of a music fest conducted by PSGR Krishnammal College.

The son of famous Tollywood director Kodandarami Reddy, Vaibhav says his entry into tinseltown was not a cakewalk. “I was never pressurised to be part of the movie industry but it just happened to be my destiny,” he says.

Talking about his experience on the first day of his life as an actor, Vaibhav says with a smile that it started with an accident. “My first scene was a fight sequence for the Telugu movie Godava. But as soon as the cameras rolled, I sprained my back and had to rest for seven days before starting to shoot again,” he adds.

However, his breakthrough came in the form of Mankaatha, where he was chosen to act alongside actor Ajith.

“I was so nervous about how the scenes were going to turn out. But Ajith made me so comfortable,” he says.

Ask him what it was like working with one of the most sought after actors in Tamil cinema, he says, “Ajith is a great actor and I was his fan even before Mankaatha. But I learnt a lot from him during our shoots together. He is like a brother to me. He always wants us to grow.”

The young actor is also a big fan of actor Vijay and hopes he can do a film with him one day. Besides, his goal is to work for director Shankar.

Apart from acting, Vaibhav is also on talks to buy the Chennai team in the Tamil Nadu Badminton League.
