Director Radhamohan, who has a reputation for making good, clean entertainers, has a brilliant sense of humour that not many know about. Recently, at a press conference to announce the release date of his next film Uppu Karuvaadu, Radhamohan was at his scintillating best.
At the event was Nanditha, who was extremely pleased with her character in the film and the way it had been made. The actor who made no bones of the fact that she had great regard for her director, posed a question to him on stage.
She said, “You have said in a couple of interviews that I was the first choice for this role. I still want to know if I really was the first choice for this role and why you chose me for this character.”
Radhamohan responded, “Nanditha was the first choice for this role. However, to answer the question on why I chose her for the character, I would like to narrate a small incident that happened. I had a love marriage. My wife was a Christian while I was a Hindu. So, when we decided to get married, I was interviewed by a Church father. He asked me several questions and I answered them. At one point, he asked me, ‘Why did you choose this girl?’ I did not know what to say. I thought for a while and said, ‘I chose her because I couldn’t find anybody else’.”
Needless to say, his response got the whole auditorium to burst out laughing. Incidentally, Radhamohan’s wife too was present on the occasion.
