Everytime a Rajinikanth movie is announced; it creates frenzy in Tamilnadu. Post Enthiran, this frenzy has turned national with every tidbit about his movie finding air time and print space. So ever since it was announced that Rajini's next movie will be directed by P.Ranjith, whose 'Madras' movie was both critically acclaimed and a commercial hit, expectations started soaring high and every small detail of the movie has become top news material.
Here's what we know about Rajinikanth's new movie- Kabali
1) Kabali is Rajnikanth's 159th film and he will be playing the character of a don. Rajini's previous avatar as a don was in the1994 movie Baasha in which he portrayed a stylish Mumbai based don. The movie was a massive hit.
2) Ranjith had first narrated two stories to Rajini's daughter Soundarya. She was impressed by the story which is now Kabali.
3) Rajini's character is speculated to be based on a real life don in Chennai and Rajini is seen sporting a white bearded look for the character.
4) Director Ranjith has said that Rajini's characterisation will be similar to that of his character in the yesteryear movie Mullum Malarum.
5) Ranjith has ruled out punch dialogues in the movie citing that the script didn't demand any. But we know that the mere presence of Thalaivar itself is punch enough.
7) Rajinikanth has given 106 days (September 17 to January 31) call sheet for the movie.
8 )First schedule of the filming started on 17 September at the Russian Centre of Science and Cultural in Chennai.
9) Currently shoot is underway in Binny Mills, Chennai, where the famous fight scene from Rajini's Sivaji was shot. Interestingly, Actor Ajith, who had acted in the Remake of Rajinikanth's Billa is also shooting in the same location for his movie Vedhalam.
10) The next schedule after the Chennai shoot is expected to start in Malaysia from October 19.
11) Radhika Apte will be Rajini's pair in Kabali. Actress Dhansika of Paradesi fame plays Rajini's daughter. She was seen sporting a boy cut for her character.
12) Actor Dinesh who was the lead in Ranjith's Attakathi and Actor Kishore of Polladhavan fame also play important roles in the movie.
13) Ranjith has included most of his cast from 'Madras' including Kalaiyarasan, Riythvika in the movie.
14) The technical crew of Madras has been retained for Kabali too. Santhosh Narayanan's music and Murali's Cinematography are expected to take Ranjith's vision even further.
15) The film's first look was released on September 16 and received a thunderous response.
16) The movie is expected to release in April next year for the Tamil New Year.
