VIP Villain to be a Hollywood Hero

Actor Amitash, who made an impression as the villain in his debut film Velai Illa Pattathari, has made it big. He has now been signed up to play the lead in a Hollywood film that is to be directed by Duane Adler.

Talking to City Express, Amitash confirmed the news, saying, “It is true. I am playing the lead in a Hollywood film, Heartbeats. The film is being directed by Adler, who is known for his work on films based on dance and music such as Step Up and Save the Last Dance. It is a dance film in which hip hop meets Bollywood.”

The film, which will have two of the world’s finest choreographers, is likely to be shot predominantly in India. Giving the details of how he landed the role, Amitash says, “I sent my dance and acting clip to Nalini Ratnam, who is the casting director of the film. I then travelled to Mumbai three or four times for auditions. I did three dance and acting auditions after which I was chosen for the role.”

Amitash calls the whole experience ‘inspiring’ and says that he is excited to be working with such renowned choreographers. “I will be working with Tessandra Chavez, an Emmy Award winner for dance choreography, and Champa Gopikrishna, who was one of the choreographers in Bajirao Mastani. I feel honoured and blessed to be a part of this venture,” gushes Amitash.

Amitash is already in Mumbai, where he is attending a two-week workshop for the film. “The film will be a triangular love story and will feature two heroines. The first is a trained dancer from Los Angeles called Krystal. The other is an Indian girl called Aneesha Joshi,” he explains.

Ask Amitash whether the film will be a bilingual and he says no. “It is a proper Hollywood film. I believe it is to be made in just English,” he says.
