Director Balaji Mohan of Kadhalil Sodhapuvadu Eppadi fame, who directed the mass entertainer Maari (2015), featuring Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead, is now busy working on the sequel to the film.
Talking to City Express, the director said, “I have started working on the script for the sequel to Maari. In fact, I have completed around 10 per cent of it. Dhanush is the only actor who has been confirmed for the sequel.”
Stating that Dhanush had two other films to complete, the director hinted that the film would, in all probability, start in the second half of 2016. “There is a lot of time in between. I might even work on another film till then,” Balaji explained.
Is he going to call the film just Maari 2? The director smiled and said, “Maari 2 will be a part of the title or it could be the title itself. But it will definitely be there.” This prompts us to ask the next question of whether all characters in the first film would feature in the sequel too. “Some could be retained,” he said tentatively
However, he refused to disclose any more details of the film and politely excused himself from answering more questions on Maari 2. Since Maari ended with Dhanush turning down Kajal Aggarwal’s proposal, to stay single, it would be interesting to see how Maari 2 begins and unfolds.
