Vijay’s Theri hits screens today and there are huge expectations from the film. Under these circumstances, one would expect the director  of the film to be reeling under pressure. But director Atlee is calm and composed with no trace of any tension whatsoever.

Talking to City Express, Atlee says, “I have done my best. I have done whatever I know, whatever I can do. I believe everything is part of a learning process. I am expecting the result for what I have done. I am okay with whatever it is. But at the same time, I am a 100% confident that I will get what I wished for.”

The film, will not just be an entertainer. He says that the film  will also deal with some pertinent, pressing social issues. Is the story of Theri is based on a real life incident? If so, did it happen to him? He smiles, and says, “This has not happened to me but I know for a fact that it is happening to others. This is something that you will find happening in every place and under every circumstance. I believe women’s safety is an issue that we need to address,” says Atlee.

The film has two heroines — Samantha and Amy Jackson. While Samantha plays a doctor in the film, Amy Jackson plays a Malayali teacher.

What was the biggest challenge while making Theri? “Completing the film was my biggest challenge. Not in terms of money. What I mean is when you want to make a film that you have conceptualised, you will have a lot of issues. Everything has to be perfect and come together. That happened in Theri and I am thrilled about it,” he says.

Finally, if there was one thing he would like to change in Theri, what would it be? Says the director, “There is nothing that I want to change in Theri or about it. In fact, I may want to add more to it”
