Ever heard of a film shot inside a single room? Well, director Kannan Rangaswamy claims that Dhaayam is the first Tamil film to be made so. He tells City Express, “There had been movies that were shot inside a house, but this one was shot entirely between four walls.” The horror-cum-suspense thriller revolves around eight characters and runs for about 105 minutes. Kannan adds, “Not once did the visuals go out of this room. We haven’t repeated the camera angles as well.” But how did he manage to shoot the whole movie without changing locations? “A lot of planning is involved in this. After all, it’s a team effort. The audience will forget the ambiance, but get hooked on more to the screenplay, cinematography, and how it has been filmed,” he smiles. While Santhosh Prathap, who played the lead in
Parthiepan’s Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam (2014) is playing the lead in the film, Dhaayam has music by Sathish Selvam.
