As a comedian who is slowly transforming himself into a hero, Santhanam is certainly becoming more conscious of the look he sports these days.

He attracted a lot of eyeballs with his new look at Dr Sethuraman’s (Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya) wedding reception, and was asked if this is how will appear in his next film Server Sundaram.

“No, I look different in Server Sundaram," he told Express. "This look is for my upcoming horror-comedy Dhillukku Dhuddu, which is being directed by Rambala. Work on Dhillukku Dhuddu is almost done and it will be released soon. ”

Asked if he has been working out for this look, the actor replied, “I don’t believe in building muscle. I believe in staying fit. I have lost weight and look a lot trimmer than before. I should have acquired this level of fitness a long time ago."

He did concede that as a hero now, he's got to like one. "As a comedian, when you are working non-stop, keeping fit is difficult. But now, as a hero, I have to pay attention to my hairstyle, the way I dress, and how I look."

Dhillukku Dhuddu is being billed as horror-comedy. Now, what's that?

Santhanam laughs: "Usually, ghosts scare people in horror films. In Dhillukku Dhuddu, you will see me scaring ghosts for a change.”
