Amala Paul and A L Vijay have become the hot topic in tinsel town since news broke about them heading for divorce, primarily because the actor's parents-in-law wanted her to quit acting. A family friend has now brought in a new twist to the story, claiming Vijay has always supported Amala, both personally and professionally, and has never forced her to quit her career.
According to reports, Amala was pressured by Vijay's family members to discontinue doing anymore films. "She was pained by the treatment meted out to her in her husband's house and her interests were never cared for. Vijay on the other hand, had treated Amala well, as his wife and as an actor," a friend who knew both families well was quoted as saying by Manorama Online.
Inital reports had said that Amala Paul and AL Vijay, who had tied the knot on June 12. 2014 in elaborate ceremonies, had to decided to end their marriage over compatibility issues. But information from sources close to the family pointed fingers at the directors' parents, and their disapproval of the actor's decision to continue her film career, as the main reason behind the incompatibility.
When asked if the reports of them heading for a divorce were true, Vijay had refused to reveal details. "I don't want to talk anything about it. I will abide by my parent's decision," the director told a leading daily, making it clear that his parents would be the final judge on their case. The duo started dating during the making of 'Deiva Thirumagal', a hit film directed by Vijay, which starred Amala Paul.
While Amala is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum, Vijay is working on his Tamil-Telugu bilingual release Devi.
