Urging his fans to become great in their respective fields, actor Vijay said on Sunday, “The achievements of others must not serve as your benchmarks. On the contrary, your achievements must serve as their benchmarks.”
Addressing a packed hall of fans at the Sathyam Cinemas where the audio of his eagerly awaited next film, Theri, was launched, Vijay urged fans to always be humble. “Never be arrogant,” the star advised. However, he committed a faux pas while looking to stress on this point by recalling an incident from history. The actor, while narrating an incident about Mao, referred to him as a Russian leader.
The film, directed by Atlee and with music by G V Prakash, features two heroines — Samantha and Amy Jackson. Vijay went on to speak about victory, and said, “There may be a thousand reasons for a failure. But the only reason for a victory is a thousand failures.”
The actor spoke highly of the film’s director Atlee and its technicians. He said, “After delivering a cute love story, Raja Rani (2013), Atlee’s determination to direct an action film with me in the lead is what has led to the creation Theri. I am impressed by the heights Atlee has reached at this young age. Not just Atlee — I’m proud of the accomplishments of many young directors today. I express my wishes to all of them.”
On the film’s music director G V Prakash, Vijay said, “Usually, music directors are the heroes at audio functions. At this event, a hero is a music director.” The actor also expressed his happiness about director Mahendran choosing to be a part of his film. He said, “Director Mahendran is the hero of directors. I have always been disappointed that I haven’t been able to act in his films. But now, he has got rid of that disappointment by choosing to act in a film of mine.”
On a lighter note, the actor called Samantha a ‘Selfie Pulla’ and Amy a ‘Kulfie Pulla’. He said the roles of both heroines have equal significance in the film. The event was witnessed by a large number of fans, celebrities, and members of the film’s cast and crew.
