Director Sai Gokul, whose Vaaliba Raja, featuring Dr Sethu, Santhanam and Vishaka Singh was released recently, is happy that the film has impressed his target audience — women and children. What’s more, the director says the film will next be released in London.

“I’m more than happy with the result of my film. I made it to impress women and children and am extremely happy with the way audiences have accepted it,” he says, adding that the film has been doing well in theatres abroad, including in Malaysia and Singapore. “In Sri Lanka, our film is doing so well that the number of screens (for the film) have been increased. The movie will be released in London on April 1. It will be released on over 30 screens,” he claims.

In the film, Dr Sethu plays the main lead and Santhanam plays a supporting character. The film is a full-fledged comedy featuring Vishaka Singh as Shalu, a South Indian girl. Nushrat Bharucha plays the other heroine in the film, which is a triangular love story with a twist at the climax.

Work on the film, which hit screens last Friday, was completed almost a year-and-a-half ago. But despite the delayed release, the director claims audiences have taken a liking to it. “I finished (working on) my film in just 39 days. But due to various reasons, the release was delayed. So when it finally hit screens, my entire team was doubly pleased — because it was finally released, and since the target audience was extremely pleased,” he says.

Sai Gokul says he readied three scripts in the 18 months he spent waiting for the release. “I have completed three scripts in different genres. One is a complete family entertainer. The other is an adult comedy, and the third is a proper commercial film which will suit a hero like Ajith,” says Sai Gokul, adding that he hasn’t decided on his next film. “It depends on the producer. Whichever gets picked first will be made into a film,” he says..
