Amy Jackson, plays a Malayalam-speaking teacher in the Vijay-starrer Theri, which has just hit screens. “Shooting for this film was a rollercoaster ride,” says the actor, who sports a de-glam role in the film.

“The role that I have done in Theri is something that I have never done before. It is a performance-oriented role and I am grateful to director Atlee and the team for having given it to me.” However, she also says that her biggest challenge in the film was speaking in Malayalam.

“I had to speak a lot of Malayalam for this film and it is a little more difficult than some of the other languages. However, thanks to the assistant directors on the set, I was able to learn and speak my lines. Raveena, who dubbed for me in I (2015), has done a fantastic job in this film as well. “

Amy is exceptionally pleased with the film. Ask her what she would change in the film and she immediately replies, “Probably the weather. We shot in some of the most beautiful locations that we could ever go to,  but then, the conditions were very difficult. We shot the climax in Goa and Vijay had to really sweat it out as the heat was intense.” The actor, who is now gearing up to resume work in director Shankar’s 2.0 after Theri, says she hasn’t had a chance to talk to Superstar Rajnikanth, who was recently honoured with the Padma Vibushan.

“I haven’t been able to speak to him but I will soon call him and congratulate him. Rajini is a fantastic person to work with. Initially, I was a little nervous about working with such a big star but he was so grounded and made me feel comfortable on the sets,” she gushes.
