I would have done Velaikkaran irrespective of the language: Fahadh Faasil

As his debut Tamil movie hits the screens this week, Fahadh Faasil says Velaikkaran was the result of his quest for a character that he hasn't attempted before.

As his debut Tamil movie hits the screens this week, Fahadh Faasil says Velaikkaran was the result of his quest for a character that he hasn't attempted before.  "It was during the break after Maheshinte Pratikaram that I met Mohan Raja sir (director). I wanted to do something new and unattempted at that time and language wasn't a problem for me. I liked the narration he gave me and that's how Velaikkaran happened. I would have done the movie even if it is in Malayalam," says Fahad.

The actor was speaking at a press meet held to promote Velaikkaran in Kochi on Monday. The programme was attended by Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan and producer Mukesh Mehta. But, Fahad says he had his share of language troubles too. Recollecting the hours he spent writing down the Tamil dialogues in English, the actor says the director was adamant that he take up the character. He also joked how his language may improve now that he has signed another

Tamil movie too.  But,  Sivakarthikeyan is full of praise for his fellow actor's performance. "I have seen his many movies and great performances. He is a great actor and has skillfully handled the Tamil dialogues with ease,” the actor said. Velaikkaran also has Nayanthara playing a significant role. It addresses
the day-to-day struggle of workers.

"The film speaks from the perspectives of two different people," says Fahad. Both the actors were also full of praises for their co-star Nayanthara. "Her character has a certain depth and she has delivered it beautifully. She has set an example to all upcoming actors," said Sivakarthikeyan.

Velaikkaran, produced by 24 AM studios, will be released in around 1200 screens worldwide on December 22.
