HYDERABAD: If there is someone who can pull the family audiences, especially women, to the theatres, with just his name, it is popular actor Venkatesh. Nicknamed ‘Victory Venkatesh’ for delivering several hits in a row, he is liked by one and all for his homely and family-oriented characters. This versatile actor will be celebrating his birthday on December 13. After his recent venture Eenadu with Kamal Haasan, Venkatesh is presently busy wrapping up the shooting of Namo Venkatesa, where he will be paired once again opposite Trisha after Aadavari Matalaki Ardhale Verule.

Venkatesh promises that the movie would be high on entertainment quotient. “The movie will be a family entertainer and there are many comedy sequences in it, which will be enjoyed by one and all. I am playing an interesting character, which is a lovable one. The audience will surely connect quickly with my role.” Venkatesh also says that though he does wish to get adventurous with varied roles, sometimes he has to settle for safe projects, which are more likely to be successful.

In his career spanning 24 years in the Telugu film industry, Venkatesh is known to have essayed various roles with ease. “I had my share of action movies like Ganesh and Dharma Teja, which were hits. Movies like Raja and Vasantham portrayed me as a softer character. Nuvvu Naaku Nachav and Malleswari was full of comedy and entertainment. I think I have covered all genres and am very happy with the success I have achieved in my career,” he shares.

Although from a Tollywood family with his father Ramanaidu as an established producer, acting was hardly in Venkatesh’s mind before he started off. “I never wanted to be an actor. But once I started doing so and the roles came in, I realised that I did have hidden talent in me. I feel very fortunate that I have been accepted by the audiences all these years. I can’ t ask for more,” he says.

Since there seems to be a close connection between movies and politics, does he see himself turning a neta in the future? “No politics please, I am not interested in it though I do respect politicians,” he stated.Coming right back to movies, Venkatesh confesses to being open to experimenting with roles in the future.

“In a couple of years, I may want to play a dual role or a mature one. I need to get the right script,” the actor says.

Staying clear of controversies, Venkatesh has a wise message for his fans. “Everyone should study well and complete their education.

Audiences should enjoy watching movies but not take in the negative aspects.” So all you Venky fans, get ready for January, when the star will tickle your funny bone with his much-awaited film Namo Venkatesa.
