Ostensibly it was audio release function of ‘King’ but was actually designed to introduce Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya, the third generation actor from Akkineni family, to the fans and the media.
Decked up with the banners of Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya, Gachibowli Stadium was buzzing with activity on November 23, to host audio release of Nagarjuna’s ‘King’ as well as celebrate birthday of Naga
Chaitanya.
With the backing of the both Ramanaidu and Akkinenni Nageswara Rao families, Nagachaitanya stole the show. Like a bird freed from a cage, Naga Chaitanya went emotional in a filmi style saying this was the day he was waiting for the last two years.
“Two years ago when I told my father about my fascination for films he immediately said ok. It’s my aim, dream, challenge and this is my responsibility,’’ said Naga Chaitanya seeking support from family, friends, film industry, elders, media and the fans.
“I never experienced this energy, happiness and excitement in life never before. I regard this as my first birthday,’’ he said.
To the surprise of many Nagarjuna shook a leg for the song `KING Vastunnadu king….’ Interestingly director Raghavendra Rao, who never opens his mouth at the media meets, couldn’t resist on the occasion, ``After Nagarjuna’s `Annamayya’ and `Sri Ramadasu’, Akkineni Nageswara Rao said that Nagarjuna was his natavarasudu in the same way Nagarjuna is going to tell you that Naga Chaitanya is his natavarasudu once Naga Chaitanya’s film hits the screens’’.
Nagarjuna, who appealed to his fans on his birthday sometime ago to give his yuvasamrat title to his son, said that he would like his fans to call him as `King’ Nagarjuna. While Naga Chaitanya said for the time being he was just Naga Chaitanya and would embrace whatever title his fans give.
“I don’t believe that films are hereditary. For that matter there was nobody before me. Neither Nag nor I ever imagined that Naga Chaitanya would act in films,’’ said Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
“We have released Naga Chaitanya into films as we were confident of his talent,’’ he added. While Ramanaidu hoped that he would become a superstar.
“ Like Nag’s Siva, Annamayya and Mass, I want Naga Chaitanya to do a variety of roles and hope your support will be there for him till the end,’’ blessed Venkatesh, Naga Chaitanya’s maternal uncle.
Earlier after the spectacular light effects, music director Devi Sri Prasad stole the limelight with his stage skills.
