

HYDERABAD: The critically-acclaimed movie 'Vedam' scooped the coveted golden Nandi award for the year 2010. Actor Balakrishna has been adjudged the best lead actor for his performance in 'Simha', one of the biggest hits of 2010. Actress Nitya Menon walked away with the best lead actress award for her role in the romcom 'Ala Modailaindi'.
The list of winners of coveted Nandi awards for the year 2010 was announced on Friday by Nandi awards jury chairman and film director N Shankar along with Information and Public Relations commissioner B Venkatesham.
‘Ganga Putrulu' and ‘Prasthanam' bagged the second and third best film awards respectively. Sunil Kumar Reddy will receive the best director award for the film ‘Gangaputrulu', while Nandini Reddy won the best maiden director award for her movie ‘Ala Modalaindi'.
The Akkineni Award for best family entertainer was awarded to 'Andari Bandhuvaya' and the Nandi award for best popular feature film providing wholesome entertainment was won by SS Rajamoouli's 'Maryada Ramanna'.
Marking the flavour of the times, best lyricist award was bagged by 'Nageti Challala Naa Telangana' writer Nandini Sidda Reddy for the movie 'Veera Telangana'.
Sneha Geetam lived up to its name as Pranavi was selected best female playback singer for the melody 'Sari gama padani' and MM Keeravani won the Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao award for best male playback singer for 'Maryada Ramanna'.
The jury members, picked from various walks of life and diverse professions were also present at the press conference and were unanimous in their praise of the free and fair process of selecting the awardees.
