

HYDERABAD: Film director Kodi Ramakrishna will receive the HM Reddy award for his contribution to Telugu cinema.
Aakruti , a cultural organization will present its annual H M Reddy award to noted film maker Kodi Ramakrishna at a function to be held at in Ravindra Bharathi in the city on February 25. The maverick director made over 130 films in several languages such as Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. The award function to be attended by several industry bigwigs including veteran director K Vishwanath, M Muralimohan, Sailaja Suman,Kota srinivas Rao and Subhan Reddy, among many others, will also feature a musical programme.
Hailing from Palakollu, in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Kodi Ramakrishna’s career spans over 30 years. With a wide repertoire, across different genres, Ramakrishna’s films are by and large, based on villages apart from prominent women-oriented subjects.
Ramakarishna, whose directorial debut ‘Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya’ was a runway blockbuster, delivered several hits including ‘Arundhati’, ‘Anji’ and ‘Ammoru’.
‘Ankusham’, ‘Shatruvu’, ‘Pelli’ and ‘Muddula Mamaih’ are some of his other noteworthy films. Kodi Ramakrishna has also written screenplay for some of his films. The award is instituted in honour of HM Reddy, who produced the first Telugu talkie movie, ‘Bhakta Prahlada’.
