Regina's Sporty Mantra

Actress Regina Cassandra who is steadily carving a place for herself in the Telugu film industry with films like Kotha Janta and Power has been busy shooting for her next release opposite Sai Dharam Tej Subramanyam for Sale. She shares her fitness mantra in between shooting

Workout Routine

I’m someone who can’t really follow a routine but I have a coach now who ensures I workout daily. I do a lot of circuit training, we vary it each day, so one day I work on my upper body, then next day we work on my lower body. I like to run as well. I used to do a lot of hot yoga before but now it’s no longer possible to do so due to my shooting schedule. Given the chance I would definitely go back to doing hot yoga again. If I can’t workout for one day then I make sure I don’t miss out on my exercise the next day. I try to see that I workout atleast thrice a week.

Pet Peeve

I hate going to the gym. I try to do something different like dancing which is one way I love to workout. I like working out on the beach.  Sometimes when the shoot is very early, then I do bodyweight exercises which don’t require any equipment. A lot of people don’t know about such exercises. I do squats, I work on my abs and legs. But sometimes when I’m really tired, I give myself some rest so that I don’t push myself too much.

Diet Mantra

I start with a glass of water then I have masala tea or coffee. If I’m really sleepy, then I opt for a nice coffee otherwise I prefer tea when I’m feeling dull or feel my throat is aching. In between, I try to munch on dry fruits and drink coconut water. I space it out in small intervals of one hour. As I’m a vegetarian, I eat a lot of vegetables for lunch, lots of beetroot, carrot, cucumber. I like to eat grilled salads. I love Paneer so my source of protein comes from there along with dals. I also like Paneer tikka a lot. I hate oily stuff and the taste of oil in my mouth. So that way I don’t have to control my diet too much.

Cheatsheet

I love chocolates. If I see them, I have to eat them. My favourites are a bar of Lindt dark chocolate with cranberry and dark chocolates from Ferroro Rocher.

A vice to get rid of....

Somehow my body is very difficult when it comes to sleep and it doesn’t adapt that well. I have a very erratic sleep pattern. I want to sleep by 10:30pm and wake up by 5am and get a workout in before leaving for shoot, but that never happens. Eventually I end up sleeping very late. However, I do make sure that I don’t head out the night before a shoot as I don’t look good the next day.

One thing I always do....

I try to drink a lot of water throughout the day. Water is important for everybody, it flushes out all your toxins. I love eating apples as they make me feel very fresh. I eat two everyday in the morning and evening.

Advice to fans

Try to play some sport. It helps you stay coordinated in so many ways in terms of coordination, focus, concentration. It helps you stay fit also. I used to love playing basketball in school. I did try my hand at tennis for a day but it involved spending a lot of time in the sun which I wasn’t comfortable with due to my work.
