It was a love story straight out of the sets of a film, quite literally. If you thought dramatic love stories only happen in movies, then it’s time to think again. In fact, real life, edge-of-the-seat romantic love stories are there right here in Tollywood. Actors Varun Sandesh and Vithika Sheru met each other during the shooting of Paddanandi Premalo Mari and eventually fell in love.

In an insightful chat with Hyderabad Express, Vithika reveals her real life love story with Varun, the moment she fell for him, what she likes about him the most and why she can’t wait to get married this August.

Love on the sets

“We met for the first time during the movie shooting of Paddanandi Premalo Mari. Initially we did not talk to each other at all.

It was more of a ‘hi-bye’ equation between us. We were like complete strangers to each other for the first two or three months. But in the last schedule, we started getting to know each other and became much closer,” recalls Vithika.

The Turning point

From being strangers to close friends to falling in love, it was truly a fascinating journey for this young couple. Vithika says the turning point was an accident on the sets, where she got injured while shooting.

“When we were shooting together, there was this instance where he was supposed to  pick me up and run. During that time, he just dropped me from a height of three feet. My back got really hurt and I immediately had to rush to the hospital. The incident shook him up and that was the first time he messaged me,” the actress shares.

“He told me that he was really sorry and I told him it was fine. But he was feeling guilty and asked me how he could make it up to me. I love chocolates so I told him to give me a hundred eclairs and then I’ll forgive him. That’s when we started bonding and soon we were talking every day and fell in love with each other,” blushes the actress.

The big surprise

An year had passed since the two of them had been seeing each other and both of them would often squabble over small things, when Varun swept Vithika off her feet with a romantic gesture. “I was telling his parents that he promised me a lot of things but he never gives me anything, and then on Valentine’s Day, he surprised me with a box of 100 eclairs.

It was a sweet gesture, especially given the fact that he remembered the promise he made to me over an year ago but my first reaction was ‘What am I going to do with so many chocolates?’,” she laughs.

Convincing the parents

In any love marriage, once the couple decide that they want to marry each other, the biggest task is to convince their respective families to accept and bless the marriage.

For Varun and Vithika, the process was not difficult but was not entirely simple either.

“My parents know very well about him and they accepted him straight away. My mother knows everything about my life and and I was damn sure that I wanted to get married to this guy. On his side, his sister supported us a lot. She was the one who first broke the news to my mother-in-law and then Attayya (mother-in-law) called me up and soon things worked out,” recalls the 23-year-old.

“It was not totally simple because it was two different people and two different families coming together. We didn’t exactly chase after them dramatically either, but it was quite a task to make it all happen,” she adds, with a smile.

The perfect match

Despite all the flaws, there is always one quality that attracts them towards each other. So what does she like most about Varun?

“His child-like behaviour. I’m just 23 years old and he’s kind and funny and is the perfect match for me. He’s not boring or reserved, he’s outgoing and funny. And above all, he loves me,” blushes the actress.

Waiting for the big day

Varun and Vithika got engaged to each other on December 7, 2015 and are set to tie the knot this August. Ahead of the big day, Vithika says she’s a bundle of both nerves and excitement.

“Before the engagement, I was really nervous. It was the first big event in our life, so it was quite intimidating. But now for the wedding, there is a mixture of nervousness and excitement. I can’t wait for August to come,” she signs off.
