HYDERABAD: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) on Wednesday registered a case against Movierulz and other websites over illegal distribution of new Tollywood movies.
Despite recent crackdowns, online piracy of Telugu films continues, with newly released movies such as Ustaad Bhagat Singh, Rajasaab and others being illegally uploaded on websites including Movierulz. The complainant, Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC), alleged that platforms like 5movierulz consistently upload high-quality pirated prints of new Telugu films on the day of release, causing significant financial losses to the industry. Recent and Sankranti 2026 releases, including Rajasaab, Mana ShankaraVara Prasad, Anaganaga Okaraju and Nari Nari Naduma Murari, were also reportedly pirated.
The complaint further alleged that these websites operate through common hosting providers and domain registrars, and despite repeated notices, continue to function. It also claimed that such platforms engage in data theft, misuse user information and promote illegal betting apps through embedded advertisements. Based on the complaint, TGCSB has registered a case under relevant sections and launched an investigation.
