Newlyweds Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan embody love in first photos of their big day

The much-awaited celebrity wedding of actress Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan took place on June 9 at Sheraton Grand, Mahabalipuram, in Chennai. It was reportedly an intimate ceremony where big names from the film industry were present. Actors Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Suriya, and Vijay, and filmmakers Mani Ratnam and Atlee attended the wedding, as per media reports. Nayanthara looked gorgeous in a custom-made handcrafted vermillion red saree from JADE by Monica and Karishma. In a breath of fresh air, the bride, unlike her contemporaries, did not opt for a Sabyasachi creation. The designers described the attire in an Instagram post: “The intricately realised tone on tone embroidery is inspired by the carvings of the temples of Hoysala. In a thoughtful tribute to the actor’s love for tradition, Monica & Karishma reimagined Goddess Lakshmi motifs as bajubandh on the sleeves of the blouse. The Lady Superstar chose to wear layers of emerald jewellery which bedazzled netizens. The jewellery comprised of Goenka India brand’s signature Zambian emerald choker, polki and large Russian tumble necklace, along with the Goenka India Signature Satlada - seven lines of diamonds, rose cuts, Polki and emeralds in a heritage setting.
