A reality check on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s Budget numbers

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced hefty increases in allocation to several of the NDA government’s favourite programmes in this year’s Budget. Impressive as those figures are, a look at the targets met in the previous year on these very programmes tells a very different story.
