Samvidhan Divas: Commemorating Indian Constitution Day

Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of Constitution of India.
To celebrate the adoption of the Indian constitution, the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world,  Samvidhan Divas or Constitution Day is commemorated nationwide today.

Subsequently, a constituent assembly was formed in November 1946.  The assembly included all prominent personalities except Mahatma Gandhi and MA Jinnah. Among all the Committees, the most important committee was the Drafting Committee in which Dr B.R Ambedkar played a role as Chairman setup on August 29, 1947. It took eleven months and eighteen days to complete the constitution over eleven sessions and contains 146,385 words. The Constitution of India was adopted on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950, proclaiming India to be a sovereign, democratic republic. (Photo: WikiCommons)
