Know your Governors: Introducing President Ram Nath Kovind's new appointees

Five states got new governors on Saturday as President Ram Nath Kovind made appointments to the states of  Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Meghalaya.

Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi will replace Mukhi as the governor of Andaman & Nicabar islands. He was the  Chief of Naval Staff from 31 August 2012 to 26 February 2014. Joshi has been awarded the Param Vishist Seva Medal, the Ati Vishist Seva medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Nau Sena Medal and the Vishist Seva Medal. Former Union Minister Satya Pal Malik has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar.  Malik has held many important positions in both Centre and State. He has been a Rajya Sabha member during two terms from 1980 to 1984 and from 1986 to 1989. He was a Lok Sabha MP from 1989 to 1990.  Malik was a member of UP Assembly from 1974 to 1977, and has also been the Chairman and member of many important Parliamentary Committees during his long political career. (Photo | ANI)
