Saadat Hasan Manto was a Pakistani writer, playwright and author whose works chronicled the chaos during and after Independence in 1947. In the beginning of his literary career, he translated the works of Victor Hugo, Oscar Wilde and Russian writers such as Chekhov and Gorky.
