Architects Nikhil Sompura and Ashish Sompura, sons of the project’s chief architect Chandrakant Sompura, have drawn the modified design of the temple.
The Ram temple in Ayodhya will be the third largest Hindu shrine in the world.
The width of the temple is likely to be increased from 140 feet to 270- 280 feet. The length is likely to increase from 268 to 280-300 feet. In addition, the height would be raised to 161 feet from the originally proposed 128 feet.
As per the new layout of the temple, it would now be constructed over 76,000-84,000 square feet area while the original one was proposed in 37,590 square feet.
The new layout has five instead of the original three domes in the structure and will be a three-storey structure instead of originally proposed two floors. The temple would be constructed in Nagara style, which is popular in north India.
UP chapter of Indian Bullions Association has donated silver bricks weighing 33 kg to the trust at a ceremony on July 2. The bricks would be used in the ‘bhoomi pujan’ ceremony.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust has invited PM Modi to lay the foundation stone and the BJP will place big LED screens at 70 locations for live telecast of the ceremony.
Religious rituals in Ayodhya began two days ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony. 175 people have been invited for the main ceremony including135 `sants' belonging to many spiritual traditions.
