14 April 1912 - The day RMS Titanic hit the iceberg

On 14 April, RMS Titanic, the British passenger liner hit an iceberg at 11:40 pm. The vessel had 2,224 passengers and crew onboard and was the largest ship afloat at the time it entered into service. 1,500 people died when the accident happened owing mostly due to fewer lifeboats due to outdated safety regulations.

In 2001, Hollywood director James Cameron returned to Titanic, to gather more footage of the ship. James, along with his brother Mike built two remotely operated vehicles, nicknamed 'Jake' and 'Elwood' to film every part of the remains that the mini ROVs could enter.
