HYDERABAD: The girl child needs empowerment from the very start of her life”, says Srishti Bakshi, founder of Crossbow Project, a campaign against gender bias. Srishti was in Hyderabad on Friday as the ‘champion for change’ and she is also a part of the UN’s ‘Empower Women’ initiative. She takes a powerful stance against gender inequality by walking 3,800 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.Her dream is to empower women by ensuring digital and financial literacy for them.

Each day, she will be walking 30 km and will offer workshops for women. “It is difficult to walk for days at a stretch, but we get fuelled by the conversation which we have with the people. They recharge us by sharing their success, pain and touching stories. It takes us on the right path and we will keep going” she added.

A resident of Mumbai, she has worked as a brand manager and it was during her work that she decided to use her life to make a difference in the social status of women. She applied for the ‘Champion for change’ programme and got selected from among 170 champions. After dedicating herself to the cause of women empowerment, the 30-year-old intends to take#Billionstepsforwomen. She believes that a mobile phone can be a window for a woman who is confined to her home. And that the women can use internet as a tool for change. 

The workshops mainly based on conversation and which enables the women to use internet to gain information, to access knowledge and earn money.’ Know your rights’ this slogan also a part of her campaign.

Meanwhile ITC’s personal care brand Vivel announced its collaboration with the CrossBow Miles campaign championed by her. Rooted in its core brand philosophy of Ab Samjhauta Nahin, Vivel is supporting Srishti in this covering 3,800 km over 260 days. Singer and winner of Indian Idol Season 9,  LV Revanth was also present at the event in support of ‘Ab Samjhauta Nahin’.
