A look at the latest iteration of the Nissan Sunny that just hit the Indian market
More for less

Nissan has launched the 2017 Sunny in India with a few updates. The car retains most of its exterior features but now comes with a new ‘sandstone brown’ colour option.

The petrol variant is powered by a 1,498cc HR15 l engine which comes with the option of both the five-speed manual transmission and the Xtronic CVT transmission. But the whopping fuel economy of 22.71 kmpl obtained from the 1,461cc k9k diesel engine makes it worth considering – even  though it only comes with the five-speed manual gearbox. With the manual transmission, the gasoline engine delivers a respectable 16.95 kmpl. The fuel efficiency goes up a little, to 17.97kmpl with the  CVT.

While the powertrains remain unchanged from the previous model, the interior has received some updates. The cabin comes with an all-black option with a 5.1-inch infotainment system with built-in Bluetooth and navigation and new panels, fabrics and chrome handles.

The Nissan Sunny doesn’t skimp on safety equipment either. Dual front and side airbags and push button start are not only offered on its higher trims but as options across all grades of the 2017 Nissan Sunny. ABS, EBD and Brake Assist are also part of the package, along with the intelligent key.

Sunny side-up
Announcing the new model, Arun Malhotra, Nissan Motor India’s  managing director said via a press release, “The New Sunny 2017 is a testimony to this with its spacious interior, comfortable drive feel and fuel-efficient engines.

The new features and colour options offer more to our customers at the same price.” For a sub `8 lakh sedan, the Nissan Sunny makes for an attractive proposition, but the devil is in the details.

Details like maintenance and insurance costs. To combat that, Nissan is now offering the Sunny with an after sales service package that’s valid for either two years or 50,000 km –whichever comes first. Roadside assistance is free with the package. These offers extend to the current year variants of the
Nissan Sunny.

Prices start at `7.91 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Details: nissan.in
