A lesson to the poster boy of male chauvinism? 

Actor Bhuvan Arora, who plays the role in Nagesh Kukunoor’s web series titled The Test Case, talks about working with the Hyderabad Blues director and of course, the MCP factor

HYDERABAD: It’s time to meet homegrown director Nagesh Kukunoor’s  creativity again. Thist time,  through his web series titled The Test Case.

The series brings out issues of gender discrimination in the army and how women are not given combat positions reflecting the lack of faith in their capabilities.

Actor Bhuvan Arora talks about working with the director. Bhuvan had previously worked in films such as Shuddh Desi Romance and Naam Shabana. Nagesh’s web series also features Nimrat Kaur, Atul Kulkarni, Rahul Dev and Juhi Chawla.


Bhuvan, who plays a negative character in the series, says, “My character Rohan Singh Rathore is the poster boy of male chauvinism. He believes that men are superior to women and are to be protected by men.

He is elite of the elites when it comes to training and grades and can’t come second to women at any cost,” he explains. The show comes just when President Pranab Mukherjee announced that the government would induct women in all military combat roles in the future.

Nagesh’s intention behind making this web series is  to get the audience thinking about why women are still not considered equal in army. 


Bhuvan says it was a sheer pleasure to work with the award-winning director.  “He is cool, relaxed and sure of what he wants from each frame. He himself has acted in so many ventures that he exactly knows how the extract the best from the actors.

” 
A graduate from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Bhuvan will be seen on the big screen in Bank Chor, along side Riteish Deshmukh and Vikram Thapa, which releases this June. The characters he plays range from comical to serious dramatic ones. “I believe that the best way to get better is to constantly keep working on one’s craft and trying to excel with each role,” he says. 


About his future plans, he says, “I would like play a superhero. We have great super hero films in the west like The Avengers and X-men. I would love to do a character with that kind of a swag. I might also get into direction someday. All I know is I am ready to go all the way, no matter what takes. I am ready to give it my all. If someone knows any other way please do tell me.”
